In the fall of 2021 I was lucky enough to vacation for a week (VAWA) with two master quilters from Gee’s Bend, Alabama. I learned a lot and wish to go back.
I was inspired to make this quilt when I arrived home. It’s a variation on a housetop pattern.
It was quilted using the stitch in the ditch method. The binding matches the borders of the quilt and is then wrapped around to the back and handsewn.
It uses Hobbs 80/20 batting and the backing is pieced.
It hung at the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance in Atlanta, Georgia, for a solo show in February 2022.
Comes with a sleeve and a dowel so all you need to do is hang it on your wall. If you prefer to use it as a quilt, I can remove the sleeve.
