For this quilt, I used abstract geometric shapes in the classic combination of red, black and white.
I chose to work primarily with curved and segmented shapes to create a sense of organic movement.
For the red fabric, I used a wax-resist method of patterning with circles on black fabric; bleaching the color out; and then redyeing it red. I think the circles give it a rhythmic element and contrast nicely with the solid fabrics.
It is echo-quilted with red thread in a wavy “x” to add texture and to reinforce the movement.
This wall hanging is made from 100% premium quilting cotton. Hobbs 80/20 batting is sandwiched between the layers. It is faced and includes a sleeve so it is ready for hanging.
